EcoPoint Drawings Featured in ECMC Form 4 Operator Guidance

There’s something pretty rewarding about seeing your team’s work show up as an example of what good work looks like.
Here at EcoPoint, our teams spend a lot of time in the field and behind the scenes collecting data, mapping facilities, documenting site conditions, and turning that information into clear drawings that help our clients understand what is happening at their locations.
Recently, we spotted two of those EcoPoint drawings in the Colorado Energy & Carbon Management Commission’s (ECMC) Form 4 Sundry Notice to Update Site Equipment Operator Guidance. Click here to review the Operator Guide.

Spotted in ECMC Guidance: EcoPoint
On pages 6 and 7 of the guidance, ECMC provides examples of “Acceptable Labeled Aerial Images.” Both examples include drawings prepared by EcoPoint. The first shows an Oil & Gas Location with the current equipment clearly labeled and new equipment accurately drawn into the aerial image. The second shows another type of site update, with equipment that is no longer on location clearly crossed out and other permanent equipment labeled.
For us, it’s a small but meaningful example of how the work we do every day can help create clearer, more useful information for operators.
Why These Drawings Matter
A labeled aerial image might look straightforward when you first see one, but there is a lot of information behind it.
When an operator is updating equipment at an Oil & Gas Location, ECMC requires a Form 4 Sundry Notice to be submitted and approved before the equipment is added. Depending on the site’s history and the scope of the proposed changes, a Facility Layout Drawing or labeled aerial image may also be needed.
The goal is to clearly communicate what is already on the site, what is changing, and where new equipment will be located.
ECMC’s guidance specifies that labeled aerial images should include information such as the location name and coordinates, scale bar, north arrow, site boundaries, current equipment layout, proposed equipment locations, permitted disturbance acreage, and current aerial imagery detailed enough to clearly show the site’s equipment.
That’s where good field data and good mapping come together.
